Everything from food supplies and trading goods, to furniture imported from faraway countries, would be transported by these animals up or down the steps connecting the ports to the villages above.
The roads to the ports were not designed for vehicles, as we see them today. Until recently, if there were roads at all, they were mostly narrow tracks on which animals and people could walk without having to use the steep steps.
In some cases, it wasn’t even possible to walk on the roads and paths to the various ports, so mules were the only option. Firostefani, Santorini. A combination of houses and farms along the road from Fira to Imerovigli.

The first tourists began to arrive in the early ‘60s — to an island that offered virtually nothing in the way of amenities. Many of the locals had literally never left their island before, so even seeing foreigners was an entirely new experience. Santorini. The "Aigaion" tied to Gialos.

⅓. A small island, Santorini is not unique in it ⅓. A small island, Santorini is not unique in its isolation, but its topography is unique, and therefore its way of life has, by necessity, had to adapt to the demands of the land.
As with all islands, Santorini’s gateways are its ports. Supplies and trade were always conducted via these means, and even inter-village trade between Fira and Oia were handled by boats of all sizes.
The ancient paths connecting all the island’s villages were nothing more than small trails suitable for animals carrying goods and people. The motorcar and road system are very recent additions in the historical timeline of an island with such ancient roots.
All goods, both domestic and traded, were imported and exported via the main ports of the island, as is the case with all islands. Santorini 1950-1960. The Piraeus steamer loads cargo and passengers in the shelter of St Nikolaos island at Oia.

6/6 Last but not least, love all. The beginning an 6/6 Last but not least, love all.
The beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega, is always to love. This is the destination of all journeys and the purpose of divine expression. The giving and receiving, the sharing of love between all beings is the supreme manifestation of all life. By greeting each day, each experience – good or bad – with acceptance, gratitude and a loving spirit, we participate not only in our own expansion of consciousness but that of the world.
⅚ It’s equally important to live your truth. O ⅚ It’s equally important to live your truth.
Our spiritual growth and evolution depend upon our free will to choose what is right and best for our soul’s development. First, we become aware of Intuition; then, we actualize it. We bring our inner truth to the outer world. It may be scary at first; we may have to take risks or make changes, but that is what our journey is all about.

Halt. Do nothing. That is the first mantra of an awakening. In order to hear the voice of the Universe or our Higher Self, we have to quiet the din of twenty-first-century life. Practice unplugging. Aligning these two aspects of our being is much easier than you might think. The secret is to recognize, understand and express the intuitive connection between our personal being and the universal, cosmic Higher Self.

Mural of the "Boxers" The mural adorned the south Mural of the "Boxers"
The mural adorned the south wall of the room, on the first floor of house B of Akrotiri, from which other murals come. It shows two boys with shaved heads, except for two large tentacles hanging at the back and two smaller ones high above the forehead. They both wear a belt around their waist and a boxing glove on their right hand. Excessively large eyes on their faces are common in modern Aegean murals, while the bent legs, especially of the boy depicted on the right, give movement and liveliness to the composition. The boy on the left is wearing jewelry - a necklace, armband and pigeon - while the other does not seem to be wearing anything. This differentiation, obviously intentional, has been interpreted as an indication of social status. The play is likely to depict an initiation ceremony, in which the two boys participated.
Excavations at the site of Akrotiri, Pompeii of th Excavations at the site of Akrotiri, Pompeii of the prehistoric Aegean as it has been characterized, revealed under the volcanic ash as an invaluable source of information about the Thera community, its frescoes. One of them, which has sparked a lot of discussion about its symbolism, is the narrative scene of the collection of crocuses.
This tent covers the east and north walls of room 3a of Xesti 3, located above the sewage tank. In particular, the east wall depicts two young female figures collecting crocuses in a rocky landscape, while the other wall depicts an imposing female figure seated in a stepped structure and surrounded by a griffin and a blue monkey. Also noteworthy is the ornate necklace of the form which consists of bead-shaped beads and dragonflies. The blue monkey is shown climbing in the stepped structure and offering yolk spots in the female form. Behind him, a girl empties the yolks she collected in a basket while behind the griffin another young female figure carries on her shoulder a basket full of yolks.
The "Fisherman" -Ο Ψαράς- is considered on The "Fisherman" -Ο Ψαράς- is considered one of the most important works of the great Aegean painting of prehistoric times.
The work, which dates back to about 1650 BC, at a short distance from the eruption of the Santorini’s volcano, from which the settlement was covered with lava and ash, enriches from June 25 the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Prehistoric Thera. For many years, it was located on the 1st floor of the National Archaeological Museum and is the first time it is exhibited at its site.
A young fisherman is the central figure of the subject and in his outstretched hands are spread two string fish passed on a rope. The figure is presented in a balanced way in the center and completely revealed without traces of jewelry, which implies dealing with the sea, possibly with nets or underwater hunting. It has a collar in the form of a rope probably, the usability of which is unknown to us.

Upcycling doesn’t mean breaking down materials but rather sorting and reusing them in a different, often more fashionable way.

In this way, thanks to the mix and aggregation of used materials, components and items, the end result is a “new product” with more value than the original value of the sum of all its components.
